Sandy update

No power, but the greens staff has started the clean up.   Several large trees down, lots of debris. Good news is everyone is safe.  No trees on greens or tees.

Let the paving begin. Yesterday they finished the 8th hole and today they are working on 9. They are only working half a day tomorrow because of the Ray Jamison Pro-Am Tournament.  For the remainder of the week they will be working on 5-6 and 7.

Most of the staff is busy picking up leaves. We are also getting the bridge on four ready to be moved closer to the pond. This gets the path out of the middle of play and more off to the side. At the same time we are going to enlarge the green tee. It is way too small for the amount of play it receives.

Working in last Friday's rain.

Sorry for the delay

Sorry for the delay in posting. My computer was hit with a virus and I am just getting it back to normal. So what has been happening? The cart paths are starting to take shape. They are installing Belgium block today on 16 tee and 7 green.  Only a few small areas are left to do.  Over one mile of block will be installed by the time we are all finished.   Cart paths around 13 green, 7 green, 16 tee, have been removed and new ones have been added and are ready for paving. Paving should start either latter this week or early next. We will keep you posted on course conditions as they change. Please, watch for postings and follow the green and blue stakes. We have been playing some forward tees and I am sure there will be some hole closures as we start paving.

We had our first heavy frost last Saturday and that signifies the start of leaf season. The staff will be busy picking up the onslaught of leaves that are beginning to fall.  We will also start our fall fertilizer applications  this week. Hopefully we have some warm days left to enjoy the course.

Yardages have been installed on the new irrigation heads.

Shortened up the path on 10 to avoid the steep slope.

New path will go down the left side of 16 tee.

Work is progressing nicely on our cart paths.  They only have a few more areas to install the Belgium Block.  ( 1 tee, 7 green, 11 tee, 16 tee, 15 tee and green).   The so called easy ones are done.  The rest of the block will be installed around new cart paths or cart paths that will be re-located.  I have had a few questions regarding the height of the block.  Please realize that we are adding two inches to the exiting black top as a re-coat so the block will ultimately only be 4 to 5 inches high.  A very easy and non intrusive step.  Some areas have been lowered to allow drainage and maintenance equipment.

There are a few paths that "cut" through our flower beds.  It is a little early to be transplanting so I have my fingers crossed and hope the plants survive.  Time will tell. We will keep them well watered and do our best to help them survive.   We hope to start paving in a week or two.  At that time there will be some hole closures.  We will do everything we can to keep the course as playable as possible.  There is a lot going on and the area's that we are working in changes from day to day and sometimes hour by hour.    If you have any questions please give me a shout.
